Our History

In 2021, Dr. Claire Hebner and Monica Simmons, RN, met to discuss the idea of working together to create a pediatric clinic for children who fall through the cracks of the existing healthcare system. In less than two years, Lirios Pediatrics was born with the vision of a future where all children have access to equitable healthcare.

Before opening its doors, Stephanie Medrano, MA, joined Team Lirios with a passion and dedication to provide healthcare for all children. Lirios, meaning “lilies” in Spanish, is named in honor and memory of Dr. Lily Sood, a beloved Austin pediatrician and dear friend. Her legacy will live on in the attention and care provided to every patient at Lirios Pediatrics.

A Child's Medical Home

Since Lirios opened, the clinic has made a measurable impact in the Central Texas Community. We have treated children referred from refugee centers, the public health department, as well as families who have found us independently. Local schools have directed children to Lirios, knowing they can get free vaccines required for school. No matter the situation, we welcome families without means, give them quality primary care, and help keep them out of hospitals and emergency rooms when they are sick. With proper medical care, children can return to school quickly, which helps them not fall behind, continue to receive school-provided daily meals, and supports parental employment. With your support, Lirios provides care that ranges from giving a parent reassurance to saving a life.
