Dr. Shaffer has an intimate understanding of the limits in health care access for children in Texas. Uninsured children often are forgotten, and medical needs are unmet. Families struggle to even find information regarding recommendations on vaccines, and preventative care. Acute medical events are solely treated in Local emergency departments. Recommended investigations, treatments, medications for these illnesses are unaffordable, and so deferred or delayed.
