Josefina Villicaña Casati

Executive Director

About

Josefina Villicaña Casati joins Lirios Pediatrics as Executive Director, bringing more than 25 years of experience building and leading organizations rooted in equity, access, and community trust across Central Texas and nationally. She most recently served as founding Senior Director of Communications at Grantmakers for Girls of Color (G4GC), where she helped steward $31.6 million to 416 grantee organizations serving girls and gender-expansive youth of color nationwide. She also served as a Design Council Member for the Women's Funding Network's Just Rise Fund, helping design a new philanthropic vehicle aimed at directing significant capital toward economic justice for women and gender-expansive communities. Throughout her career, she has been known for cultivating funder relationships and stewarding resources with the same care she brings to community partnerships.

A bilingual, bicultural Latina with deep roots in the Central Texas nonprofit and donor community, Josefina's career began in newsrooms. She spent nearly two decades in leadership at the Austin American-Statesman, including over a decade leading its Spanish-language publication, ¡Ahora Sí!, growing readership to 71,000 and earning 65+ editorial awards for coverage that helped Spanish-dominant families access information that shaped their lives. She later founded Latindigo Strategies, a bilingual communications consultancy serving nonprofit and education clients, where she secured a $350K multi-year grant for an Austin nonprofit serving youth. She also co-created and taught a bilingual journalism course at UT Austin's Moody College of Communication.

Since her college years in California, Josefina has served on boards and volunteered with mission-driven organizations, including the Texas Book Festival, KLRU/PBS's Community Advisory Board, and the University of Texas Elementary School Education Forum, and currently serves on the Advisory Board of The New Philanthropists.

Josefina joins Lirios Pediatrics ready to grow its reach and deepen its partnerships, always grounded in one commitment: every child, regardless of insurance or ability to pay, deserves access to quality medical and mental health care. When so much is impacting our most vulnerable communities, she's committed to advancing Lirios' mission and providing quality health, mental health, and community resources to uninsured children, helping families thrive.
